1General Guidelines for Authors

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear UK English. Authors whose primary language is not English are strongly advised to have their manuscripts thoroughly reviewed and corrected by an English language expert before formal submission.
  • Evaluation: Submissions will be judged strictly on the basis of originality, scientific innovativeness, direct relevance to the field, and final recommendation of peer reviewers.
  • Republication Restriction: Upon acceptance for publication, the manuscript must not be published again elsewhere in any form (electronic, print, or translations) without the prior written consent of both the author(s) and the Editor-in-Chief.

2Editorial Policy

Submission of a manuscript implies that the material has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Plagiarism Policy: JJAASES maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism, duplicate submission, and text recycling (self-plagiarism). Every manuscript is subject to automated similarity detection screening upon submission. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all data and reference citations are fully original and authentic.

Ethics & Peer Review: All submissions undergo rigorous peer evaluation. This starts with an initial screening by the Editorial Committee to assess suitability and quality. Eligible manuscripts are then sent to a minimum of two anonymous external reviewers who are active scholars in animal poultry and livestock fields.

Copyright & Liability: The journal operates under open access policies: authors retain copyright under the **Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY-4.0)**, which allows open sharing and reuse with proper attribution, while granting first publication rights to JJAASES. JJAASES does not subscribe to or carry liability for the opinions, data, or conclusions expressed by authors. Authors hold full responsibility for their articles.

3Manuscript Format & Layout

Manuscripts must be typed using Times New Roman of font size 12, double-spaced on A-4 size paper, leaving 2.5 cm margins on all sides.

Important Note on Page and Line Numbering:

For submission files, pages of the manuscript should not have hardcoded or fixed layout page numbers. However, authors should use standard word processor features to number pages and lines consecutively to facilitate review.

4Structure and Sequence of Organization

Manuscripts should be organized in the following sequence:

Title, Authors and Affiliations

Title: Should be concise, specific, and describe the precise content. It should be informative and capture the interest of the reader.

Authors: Provide initials and names of all contributors (e.g. Luka, S.B., Okpanachi, U., Dafur, B.S., Kaye, Oshibanjo, D.O. and Idachaba, C.A.) along with their academic affiliations. The corresponding author must be clearly identified with an active e-mail address.

Abstract & Keywords

Abstract: Must be typed in a single paragraph not exceeding 200 - 250 words. It should be brief and informative, summarizing the scope, methods, experimental design, principal findings, and major conclusions. Review or general interest articles should highlight the new concepts/ideas reported.

Keywords: Consist of 4 - 6 words. Each word must start with an uppercase letter, separated by commas. Authors should use terms not already present in the article title.

Introduction

Describe the context of the study, list brief statements of the problems, and provide a clear description of the justification, aims, and objectives of the scientific investigation.

Materials and Methods

State methods clearly to permit replication by other researchers. Describe experimental designs, replication, and statistical tools used. List instruments and tools. Cite references for known methods, and describe modifications or new techniques in detail.

Results & Discussion

Results: Report observations and interpretations. Support descriptions with Tables and Figures. Use italicized subheadings preceding major paragraphs to structure findings.

Discussion: Interrelate findings in context with previous studies, state inferences, applications, and conclusions. Results and Discussion sections may be combined if preferred.

Acknowledgements (Optional)

State appreciation to individuals, funding agencies, or host institutions that contributed to the research project.

5Citation Style & References

In-Text Citations:

  • List in-text citations in chronological order. Example: (Babangida and Adeniyi, 1996; Ajuzie, 2012; Oyedapo et al., 2020).
  • For 1 or 2 authors, list full names. For 3 or more authors, cite only the first author followed by et al. in italics. Example: Igoche et al., 1985.
  • For multiple works by the same author in the same year, append letters (a, b, c) after the publication year. Example: (Kaye et al., 2011a, b).

Reference List Layout:

References must be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the article. Standard formats:

// Website citation format

Kris, H. (2015). The history of chickens (Gallus domesticus). Domestication and history. http://archaeology.about.com/od/domestications/qt/chicken.htm Last Accessed 18.09.2015.

// Software reference format

6Manuscript Specifications & Graphics

Scientific Style & Units

Use standard internationally accepted signs and symbols for all units (e.g. SI units). Always use italics for genus and species scientific names (e.g. Gallus domesticus). Use italics for emphasis (do not underline text).

Tables and Figures

Tables should be positioned at the end of the text. They must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (e.g. Table 1, Table 2). Do not insert tables as static images; they must be formatted using the native “insert table” word processor options.

Single spacing must be maintained throughout the tables, including table headings and footnotes. Table headings should be placed above the table; footnotes must be placed below. Captions must not exceed 120 words per item, and all figures/tables must be discussed inside the text. Figure legends are positioned below the illustration.

Graphic Elements & Photograph Resolutions

Graphic Elements: Authors should not copy, paste, or embed electronic graphic elements directly into the main text flow. Instead, prepare graphic items as separate high-quality document uploads.

Photographs: Scanned or digital photographs must be submitted at the highest resolution settings. The minimum resolution acceptable is 1024 x 768 pixels, with a minimum density of 300 dpi (dots per inch). Upscaling smaller pixel sizes to meet this resolution is prohibited.
